THE MAN BEHIND THE MISSION
The military is deep-rooted in the heart of Freedom Flight South Florida’s founder, Stan Bostic. A veteran himself, Bostic served in the U.S. Navy as a line officer for 16 years, following in his father’s footsteps who spent 26 years in the Navy. The tradition has since continued with Bostic’s two sons, one who served as a Navy Frogman and one who continues to serve active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Bostic opened FF-SF doors in December 2018 after years of serving with another local non-profit serving veterans, Honor Flight South Florida. Bostic established FF-SF in order to continue serving veterans and active-duty military, while also incorporating first responders into its mission.
Among over 45,000 organizations benefiting veterans in the U.S., FF-SF is the only organization with the mission to bring first responders and military veterans to the U.S. memorials that were erected in their honor. FF-SF takes pride in the uniqueness of their mission. Often it is overlooked how many veterans/first responders have not had the opportunity or mentally have not been able to go to the memorial erected in honor of their service. This is where FF-SF steps in to be that helping hand by offering free passage and support while visiting these monuments.
“The bottom line is we have to do what we can to make sure that we say thank you. We say ‘thank you for your service’ but for those who have come back from being in combat, just saying ‘thank you’ really doesn’t do it all, but it’s a start.” -Stan Bostic
In addition to his support of veterans and first responders, Bostic also has a passion for helping children in need through the Prestige Club organization. In his spare time, he serves as the Board President of this organization, striving to help children accomplish great things in their lives.
