8 Patriotic Ways to Celebrate the Fourth

The fourth of July is one of the most patriotic days of the year. The day the United States signed the Declaration of Independence. The traditions of celebrating Independence Day originated back to 1776 when Congress adjourned and everyone celebrated with bells and fireworks. Among many ways of celebrating the fourth, here are a few of our favorites.

Light Fireworks and Sparklers (safely & legally!) – As long as it is legal in your place of residence, light some fireworks and sparklers in your yard or neighborhood with friends and family. This is the most traditional way to celebrate the holiday!

Wear Red, White and Blue – Show your patriotism by dressing in the colors of our flag – red, white, and blue.

Send Letters & Care Packages to Deployed Soldiers – Honor those who continue to fight for our freedom by sending our soldiers letters and care packages for the Fourth.

Barbecue with Friends and Family – Celebrate our freedom with your close friends and family. Barbecues are most popular for this summer holiday.

Display the Flag – Flying the flag outside of your home is a way to demonstrate your patriotism on this holiday.

Volunteer with our Veterans – It is important to remember those who are fighting for our country but also those who fought for our country and are back home. Volunteer with your local non-profit (Freedom Flight South Florida) to show your gratitude for the priceless gift they’ve given us.

Visit a National Park or Monument – These monuments were created to honor those who fought for our country and are a great place to pay your respects, show your gratitude, and display your patriotism on this holiday.

Attend a Fourth of July Event: Events take place all around the country for the Fourth of July, including firework displays, block parties, barbecues, etc. Attending these events are a great way to celebrate the holiday with your fellow Americans to demonstrate your patriotism.
